What's the Foundation?

How we began
The Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation was established in 1992, a merger between the Robbie Page Memorial Fund and the Sigma Sigma Sigma Educational Foundation of Tri Sigma.

The RPM Fund made specific grants to hospitals for play therapy – a long-standing philanthropic outreach of Tri Sigma. The Educational Foundation awarded scholarships to members.

At the 1992 Convention, the idea of forming one unified foundation – having both scholarships and play therapy under the same umbrella – was a difficult vote, even though members have always valued philanthropy and service to children.

janhorner.jpg"It seems logical to us now," says Jan Horner, Foundation Chairman. “But in 1992 this was a controversial vote. Each group had its own priority and wanted to preserve its legacy. But by joining together, our legacy of philanthropy became stronger. We still do the same things, have the same thrusts: the Sisterhood (training programs and scholarships) and the children (play therapy/child life grants). But we can do it bigger and better now. Just one Convention vote helped countless women and children. Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Tri Sigma national sorority. The Foundation is a separately chartered organization with a charitable purpose.

Merging these two charitable parts of Tri Sigma into a tax exempt organization allowed members to give tax deductible gifts to fund play therapy programs throughout the country, award scholarships to deserving members, and, in addition, support leadership training and education programs of the national Tri Sigma Organization.

Our Mission
Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation provides transformational philanthropy:  funding innovative leadership training for women, awarding scholarships, and investing in life-enhancing children’s therapy programs.

As a non-profit organization, we are the conduit to help donors create a legacy.
